Overview:

On the first day, you will transfer from Arusha to the Lemosho Gate, then begin your trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. This initial section introduces you to Kilimanjaro’s diverse ecosystems.

  • Hiking: Trek from Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Overview:

 On the second day, you will hike from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1, moving through the lower moorland zone. This stage of the trek provides striking views of the Kibo volcano and a transition to more open terrain.

  • Hiking: Trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1.

Hiking Details:

  • Distance: 5 km
  • Duration: 4–5 hours
  • Altitude Gain: From 2,780 m to 3,500 m

 On the third day, you will trek across the Shira Plateau to Shira Camp 2. This section offers expansive views of the plateau and allows for acclimatization.

  • Duration: 4–5 hours
  • Altitude Gain: From 3,500 m to 3,900 m

  • Distance: 10 km
  • Duration: 6–7 hours
  • Altitude Gain: From 3,900 m to 4,600 m (Lava Tower), then descend to 3,950 m (Barranco Camp)

  • Barranco Wall: Prepare for the scenic challenge of the Barranco Wall.

 On the fifth day, you will climb the Barranco Wall and then continue your trek to Barafu Camp. This day prepares you for the final summit attempt by reaching higher altitudes.

  • Distance: 13 km
  • Duration: 7–8 hours
  • Altitude Gain: From 3,950 m to 4,600 m

 On the final trekking day, you will begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak in the early morning hours, then descend to Mweka Camp. This is the culmination of your trek, with a challenging summit climb followed by a descent.

Activities:

  • Hiking: Ascend from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Mweka Camp.

Hiking Details:

  • Distance: 6 km (to Uhuru Peak) + 12 km (descent to Mweka Camp)
  • Duration: 8–10 hours
  • Altitude Gain: From 4,600 m to 5,895 m (Uhuru Peak), then descend to 3,100 m

Highlights:

  • Uhuru Peak: Reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoy breathtaking views.
  • Descent: Experience the varied terrain as you descend through the forest to Mweka Camp.

Overview:

 On the final day, complete your descent to Mweka Gate and transfer back to Arusha.

Activities:

  • Transfer: Return to Arusha.

  • Duration: 3–4 hours

Highlights:

  • Final Descent: Enjoy the forested lower slopes as you conclude your trek.
