Overview: Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Arusha. After meeting your guide, you’ll be driven to Rongai Gate, where your trek officially starts. From the gate, you’ll hike through lush montane forest to Simba Camp, your first overnight stop.

Overview: Trek from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp, located at the base of the Kibo peak. This is a shorter trek to prepare for the summit attempt.

Activities:

  • Hiking: Trek from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp.

  • Distance: 9 km
  • Duration: Approximately 5-6 hours
  • Altitude Gain: From 4,330 m to 4,700 m

Highlights:

  • Base Camp: Prepare and rest at Kibo Camp before the summit attempt.
  • Panoramic Views: Enjoy the surrounding landscapes and the looming summit.

Overview: Begin your summit attempt at midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise, then descend to Horombo Camp for a well-deserved rest.

  • Summit: Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), then descend to Horombo Camp.

Hiking Details:

  • Distance: 12 km (to Uhuru Peak), then 18 km to Horombo Camp
  • Duration: Approximately 6-8 hours to Uhuru Peak, then 6-7 hours to Horombo Camp
  • Altitude Gain: From 4,700 m to 5,895 m (Uhuru Peak), then descend to 3,700 m

Highlights:

  • Summit Success: Celebrate reaching the highest point in Africa.
  • Descent: Enjoy the changing scenery as you descend through different vegetation zones.

  • Breakfast: Early at Kibo Camp.

Overview: Complete your descent from Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate, where you will finish your trek. You’ll then be transferred back to Arusha for relaxation or onward travel.

  • Descent: Trek from Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate.
  • Transfer: Drive back to Arusha.

Hiking Details:

  • Distance: 20 km
  • Duration: Approximately 5-7 hours
  • Altitude Loss: From 3,700 m to 1,800 m

Highlights:

  • Final Descent: Reflect on your accomplishment as you make your way down the mountain.
  • Return Transfer: Transfer back to Arusha for rest and relaxation.
