DAY 1 – MANDARA HUT

This is one of the most affordable Kilimanjaro trekking tours. This package starts with a morning drive to Marangu that takes approximately two hours. Your journey to Marangu (1372m), which is located on Kilimanjaro’s south-eastern side, is through the semi-tropical foothills of Kilimanjaro. During your drive, you can enjoy the stunning sights of the peak that is fully snow-capped. Upon reaching the Marangu gate, you can find a team of tour guides and porters. After collecting all supplies for the trek, you are guided to the Mount Kilimanjaro’s entrance to do the registration process for the trekking. Near the gate, you can come across a cluster of buildings. From there, you have to walk through the coffee plantation patches and dense rain forest for around five hours to reach Mandara hut. During your journey through the forest, you can witness a rich and colorful birdlife along with different varieties of monkeys including Colobus. The forest is also home to a wide variety of flowers such as orchids and different types of lichens and mosses as well. DAY 2 – HOROMBO HUT (3,720m)

You can start the second day with a steep climb through the last broad strip of rainforest. After some time, you reach rolling alpine meadow full of large heather. Upon leaving the canopy of the forest, you can witness the twin peaks of Kilimanjaro known as Kibo and Mawenzi directly in front. Kibo is a snow covered peak and Mawenzi is a rocky peak. You can find both these peaks dominating the skyline when you leave the forest canopy. As you move forward, there is an open heath zone with stunted vegetation that needs to be crossed prior to reaching bleak moorland. Approximately, you achieve 1,000m in altitude, and the duration of walk can be around five to seven hours based on the speed. Accommodation is arranged at Horombo Huts at this night. It is another cluster of buildings quite similar to the buildings you found at Mandara. You can find basic shelter and accommodation at this place.

DAY 3 – HOROMBO HUT

When you spend a day at Horombo Hut, you will get used to the altitude climate in a gradual manner. Various studies and statistics suggest that this type of acclimatization makes the summit climb more effective for any traveller. So the time you spend at this hut does not go waste. During the day, you can perform a couple of walks the vicinity of the hut. The most popular option available is to walk toward the Mawenzi Peak base which is known as Kili’s dramatic eastern summit. The duration of this round trip walk comes in between four and five hours. You reach an altitude of 4,600m prior to returning to the hut. This preparation makes your mountain climb a lot easier. DAY 4 – KIBO HUT (4,705m)

As you move on from the boundless flowers and peculiar alpine plants, the landscape turns increasingly rocky and rough. You can start viewing large groundsels and lobelias in the scattered moorland. The Kibo today trail consumes around five to seven hours. After moving around the Mawenzi Peak, you go through Last Water before crossing a sharp and lunar landscape to reach “The Saddle”. It is an extensive tundra desert that is situated between the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. You can enjoy stunning views of the of the mountain’s upper reaches from this place. Then you reach Kibo Hut (4,705m) which is made using dry-stone equipped with dormitories. The facilities are quite restricted at this place. This night, you should make preparations for the final climb of the Summit scheduled for tomorrow. Porters help you repack any items that are not essential. Since you have to preserve all your energy to reach the summit, you should leave all items that you really don’t need. You must start midnight to reach the summit in the morning before the settling in of the cloud cover and come back to the hut in due time. It is always necessary to go to bed early to wakeup midnight. DAY 5 – UHURU PEAK (5,896m)

This day demands a lot from you. You can wake up after midnight with the help of the guides. The climb starts in extreme darkness and torch can be used to meandering up a long scree slope in severe cold. Since the scree stays frozen, you can walk on with ease and comfort. When you walk around two hours, you arrive at Hans Meyer’s Cave. This cave is named in the loving memory of German geologist who reached this cave first time in 1889. When he reached, he found a frozen leopard’s remains. The slope becomes steeper and as you walk around three hours, you arrive at the crater rim at Johanne’s Notch. It can be described as the most difficult stretch of the entire ascent. From this place, you need to do a short climb to reach Gillman’s Point (5,685m) around the dawn time. When you manage do so, you can enjoy the amazing sight of the sunrising over the rocky peaks and ice fields of Mawenzi. The plentitude of colors and shapes makes all your climbing efforts meaningful and purposeful. If you have the energy to keep on moving, you can go forwards another two hours along the crater rim to arrive at Uhuru (Freedom) Peak (5,896m). Your return journey may take around three hours and proper rest can be taken while going past Kibo Hut to Horombo Hut.

DAY 6 – Back to ARUSHA.

The pace quickens as you continue your triumphant way back down across alpine meadow and past Mandara Hut through the rainforest to Marangu Gate where you board the vehicle for the journey back to Arusha. Breakfast and Lunch are included in this day.

3.    Nungwi Tours

Nungwi on the North tip of Zanzibar Island. Has crystal clear water, for diving, snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing.

This trip takes you through the Mangapwani cave which is a 30 minutes’ drive from Zanzibar island   town. After the closure of Slave Market in June 1873, the cave was a secret hideout from where slaves were kept illegally then transported by dhow up to 1911. You will then proceed to Nungwi which is an hour’s drive from the cave.

4.    Swim With Dolphin Tours

From town drive to Kizimkazi a small village to the southern point of the island takes one hour. Channel of Kizimkazi surface is broken by the skimming arcs of wild bottle-nosed dolphins.

You are taken by outboard engine boat into the sea to see the dolphins, and if you’re better lucky you will be able to swim quite close with them, as they are very friendly

 

5.    Changuu Prison Island

Prison Zanzibar  Island or by another name Changuu Island is the middle is let of the three visible from the Stone town, it takes approximately 30 minutes to get there by a wooden boat powered by and outboard engine. The prison on this island was built in 1893, which was later used as a Quarantine Hospital.

Surely the only interesting part in Prison Island is giant tortoises. They were brought to the island in 1820 by Seychelles Sultan Said.

Also you can swim, sunbath, snorkel and enjoy the peacefully beautiful island while relaxing. The hotel built on Changuu Island does not allow the day visitors to move or going around the Prison Island.
